St George’s joined in with the national celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with an indoor street party!
After a service of thanksgiving for the Queen, neighbours were invited to a picnic lunch. With the rather wet weather, we held this indoors. Food was followed by children’s games, such as feed the Royal Corgis and guess the name of the Teddy Prince, with prizes. Trevor had on display his 1950s clockwork Hornby train set. A surprising hit amoung the pensioners were the glitter tattoos!
As well as giving thanks for the Queen’s life and service, we reflected on Christ’s words in Mark 9:30-37 in our church talk: ““Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”
Thanks to everyone who came and helped out.
